We hope to help you find the best compromise based on your request and your needs. We have prepared a brief summary of each accommodation option available in London, along with the positives and negatives of each option to help you make the best choice.

London is a world capital and the financial centre of Europe with the City. At the academic level, London has major reputable universities that attract a large number of foreign students each year. Approximately 380,000 foreign students flock to the University of London, City University, Brunel University, and London Metropolitan University. These students will often encounter a housing problem in an overpriced city. To find affordable prices, we must opt for apartment roommates or youth hostels that can be at a great price.

Housing in the habitant and private house

Budget: from £ 135 to £ 235 per week.

Homestay student accommodation is the most popular and suitable option for students visiting London. London is a very big city with an excellent transport network. Homestays are usually located in the suburbs of London. The hosts are regular customers, occupying very varied professions within and around London.

Homestay accommodation is the most popular option for students visiting London as there are many benefits to this option.

Budgetary speaking, staying with the locals is a very good value for money. The entire reservation is paid in advance and in full transparency. If you select half-board, you have breakfast and dinner included. You have in advance an idea of the cost of living in London. The only cost you need to take into account is transportation, lunch and leisure expenses. Staying at home is also the best way to improve your English by speaking with your host, it will also allow you to discover the good London plans (visits or to eat outside) and around London. There is a good chance that you become a good friend with your host and that you stay in touch long after you leave.

A private home is very similar to a host family, but the difference is that it can accommodate more than four students at a time. A private house should not be used to accommodate students under 18 years of age.

Student Residences

Budget: from £ 250 to £ 450 per week.

In recent years, London has seen the appearance of many student residences. The majority of these residences are reserved for students (minimum contract of 42 weeks). However, some agencies (like us) can offer you short stays (minimum of 4 weeks).

The student residences are large, modern and often have extras like a gym, coffee shops, lounge area, and wash houses. The major advantage of student residences is that they are often very well placed. The majority of residences are located in ZONE 1, others ZONE 2 and often very close to metro stations. However, homes in ZONE 1 are very expensive, they can sometimes cost twice as much as another type of housing.

A HOUSE OR APARTMENT RENTAL

Budget: £ 160 to £ 600 per week.

The house/apartment rental is very popular for those wishing to stay for a long time in London. Renting a house is a good way to meet people of your age. Like host families, the majority of houses for rent are in the suburbs of London, which means using public transport to get to school / central London. You will have to respect the rules of the house but also those of your roommates. Most of the time your roommates will be the same age as you, which gives you more freedom than a family (everyone wants to party the same night!)

The biggest disadvantage of the house/apartment rental is that it is very expensive. Moreover, without the intermediary of an agency and official regulations, the quality can vary greatly. Real estate agents often rent for a rent of 2 months in advance, there are many agency fees accompanied by the obligation to communicate the name and information of a guarantor (family member promising to pay to your place if you cannot play anymore). Charges (water/electricity) are not included in the rent, you must add extra.

YOUTH HOSTELS AND HOTELS

Budget: from £ 135 to £ 235 per week.

Youth hostels provide you with accessible accommodation near tourist attractions. Rooms are often shared as dormitories with bunk beds. Single or double rooms can also be booked if they are available. Youth hostels are the best option if you want to stay in London for a short time.

Hotels can offer you better service. The rooms are always equipped with a bathroom. The hotel is very popular with tourists. The major disadvantage is the price because to stay in a hotel in London, the minimum price is £ 100 per night. You may also feel a lack of "ambiance" if you stay in a hotel for a long time.
